new...
I got a new job!!!! I got a new big time job! A big girl job!! In fact, I will probably have to change my blog to hide my identity better. I am the new director of adult behavioral health for a local agency. I am scared/excited/happy/and sad to leave some of my favorite people behind. Now... I need to go shopping. I have to wear suits. Every day. Yay me!!! Thank you God!!

What?
Oh my goodness. What a day! My baby girl needed winter boots. She wears the same size shoe that I do now, but I am not sharing my winter boots. She needs her own. However, nothing fancy because she will outgrow them in 1.5 months. So, the family loads up and stops by Payless Shoes. We get there and the parking lot is pretty empty, and the store looks empty. But the door is unlocked so we go in. We are browsing, looking for snow boots-no luck. The clerk is nowhere in sight, which is really wierd. I think, "Hmm the clerks better get their butts up here or they are gonna get robbed". Someone walks in as we are leaving. So we leave and walk down the street to KMart. No boots there either. So then we go back down to Payless. It is surrounded by police, and our car is also surrounded. The police ask us what we did in the store. Apparently, the store was robbed. The clerks ran to the back and locked themselves in and the robbers left. Then... low and behold here comes the dang Mitchell family. Just puttering around. Meanwhile, the poor clerks are huddled in the back and the police are headed to the scene. I am just glad we were not there when the police all got there. George would have been face down in the concrete for sure, and I would have been hysterical. As it was, we were asked some questions and of course they had to see George's ID. I don't think we are suspects, but we are pretty freaked out. Those poor clerks. Anna did get her boots, we had italian for dinner, and then went to a movie together. What a Saturday!

Snow days
No school in our school district for the entire week. Thankfully, I have a job which is flexible so that I can spend some of that time at home. I love staying in the house, watching snow, and reading a good book by the fire. It is so wonderful. What a true blessing.
I am worried about the homeless people that I serve at work. It is so cold, and so many die every year. It is painful to be cold. I don't know how some survive it honestly. They come in with wind burned skin and frostbite, chapped lips, and fatigue.
I wish I could share a warm fire, soup, a peaceful evening, and a good book.
